![]() ![]() I highly recommend this theater if you’re in SoCal and want to see Avatar in one of the best theaters. ![]() ![]() Showtime was at 8:15pm but with trailers/prologues the movie started at 8:45pm. Now, AMC Theatres is the biggest movie theatre chain in the world. ![]() For more than a century, AMC Theatres has led the movie theatre industry through constant innovation. Get tickets now to begin your next adventure. Sound was also good and the theater overall well kept as always. Specialties: Great stories belong here, with perfect picture, perfect sound, and delicious AMC Perfectly Popcorn. The film was projected pillar-boxed on the sides and we were given Dolby 3D glasses. Yes, I did look back to make sure two projectors were going lol. Either way, the picture was clear and crisp and I wasn’t disappointed. Experience: There WAS HFR at this location! I was surprised since this is a GT Dual Laser location with a 1.43 screen, so it must of been playing in 2K but it looked like 4k. There was 25mins of previews and about 5mins of AMC/IMAX prologues. Trailers: Creed 3 (IMAX BTS), Mission Impossible (IMAX BTS), Oppenheimer (1.43), Spiderverse, Shazam, Super Mario Bros, Indiana Jones, Guardians (3D), Ant-Man (3D). Note that parking is usually pretty rough: There’s a garage that validates but it gets pretty packed, so allow plenty of time to find a space and don’t expect to escape quickly.-Location: Universal Cinema AMC CityWalk Hollywood It was the most appealing modern multiplex in L.A., but it’s also a classic due to the Cinerama Dome, a fabulous and unique domed movie theater that opened in 1963. As an added bonus, there are always fun cinephile treats on display (original costumes, architectural models, etc.). The programming is an astute mix of first-run flicks, indies, foreign fare and premieres, and alcohol is allowed in some screenings. Though this theater has been shuttered since ArcLight closed its theaters in 2021, planning documents hint at an eventual reopening for the Cinerama Dome.Ī Hollywood favorite from 2002 until 2021, the former ArcLight multiplex offered comfortable assigned seating (cushy, reclining leg room for days), state-of-the-art sight and sound, fantastic snack bars and, for some Dionysian indulgence, an in-house café-bar. ![]()
